Low FPS with High-End PC Build - Page 2

I had an FX-4100 which is kind of the same CPU architecture as the 8150. I had a gtx 560 with that CPU. I could never play BF3 multiplayer without a tremendous amount of stuttering and frame drops. I switched to a 1045t CPU and BF3 ran buttery smooth. I say all of this to say that with a graphics card as powerful as a GTX 690 I wouldn't use a CPU that is no better than a 3570K. If I were you I would make the switch and be done with it. If you live by a Microcenter you can get a killer deal on a intel mobo and cpu combo. thumb.gif

ok you got something else going on I ran bf3 totalled maxed vsync and aa on and never seen below 60+ fps thats with a fx-8150 and single 7970 there is something not right somewhere I have the same board as well and only 16gigs of 2133mem. Id be looking at old driver issues or something else that cpu isn't limiting you.

I do have the 7970s cfx now but I did the tests before cfx so I know the cpu and board are not your issue. now you are using a amd designed chipset which may not like the nvidia card but no idea there never heard of anything like that but you never know.

gonna d/l valley and i'll post my bench with it both single and cfx.

ok there have been a few people tell me that it may be a driver issue but what driver specifically may it be, do you mean my video card driver or just general drivers cause all of my drivers have been updated

that one could be tough to sort out did you have any previous video cards in it and have you updated to the last amd drivers for both chipset and video card

ok something isn't right on there I just ran the valley max aax8 ultra vsync on
Single 7970 30.3 fps score 1269
crossfire identical 7970s 54.1fps score 2264

so the 8150 and mb are not the issue and not a bottleneck
that was with dx11 no overclock on anything.

im gonna bump it up to 4.0on the cpu see what changes
ok I upped the cpu to 3.7 for just a quick check
bpth gpus are maxxing out 100% usage so cpu is definately not a bottleneck

ok this may sound stupid but what is the memory you have I'm running the g.skill Ripjawz 2133mhz 9-10-11-28 amd seems to like the higher speed memory even though it says it only supports 1600 or some garbage

I'm kinda confused unless its thermal throttling. or it just wants higher speed memory.
Thats the only 2 things I can think of offhand. I do know is if the cpu gets hot it will throttle down
unless you have that turned off also if you dont have it turned off the cpu will throttle down it self
if that option isn't turned off at times. it will also throttle down if the cpu voltage isn't set high enough
for the set speed something I noticed with mine when I bumped it upto 3.7 and forgot to reup the
voltage where i set it low for stock speeds.
