Which 7950?

Thread Starter
Hey guys!

Sorry if this question has been asked 10000000 times, but I really need some help.

I decided I am going to return my 670 because of the issues I am having (weird TDP numbers/oscillating for no reason) and I want to jump on the AMD bandwagon again.

Which 7950s are not voltage locked + get pretty high overclocks? Now before yelling at me saying "it's the luck of the draw" and "you aren't guaranteed to get that high overclocks" I am just asking which specific brand has been reaching the highest in general.

Hopefully I can return this 670 and be on the red team again!

The best brands in general are probably Sapphire and MSI. Nobody make 7950's with 7970 pcb's anymore, so that's out of the question. Sapphires go on sale all of the time, and there known for good cooling, unlocked voltages, and bad warranty support. MSI's are more expensive, but they have better warranty support. These are probably your best options: Sapphire 2L (cheap, supports waterblocks), 3L (smaller, no waterblocks), Vapor-x (custom pcb with two 8 pin connectors, no waterblock), and the MSI TF3 (good warranty, supports waterblocks)

HIS HD 7950 iceq x2 boost is one of the best (if not the) HD 7950 cards. uses a reference HD 7970 PCB. 8 + 6 pin power. more power phases than reference HD 7950 for better stability and lower temps with extreme voltage overclocks. unlocked voltage. good cooler. card measures 311mm long. if you remove the HDD bay in your case you can fit this card

another good card is the sapphire hd 7950 boost suggested above. reference HD 7950 PCB. good cooler. unlocked voltage. outstanding price.
