Hi everyone, question about overclocking....

Thread Starter
New to the scene, just built my rig a few months ago. I want to invest in overclocking my CPU, can someone tell me if these temps are normal?
Running prime95 on 8 cores, I'm averaging around 50 degrees Celsius.

Here's relevant specs:
Intel i7 3770K @ normal clock rate
Nvidia GTX 680 Hydro Copper
1 thick 120 mm Radiator, 1 dual 80 mm radiator, all copper.
Swiftech mcp655 pump with their Hydrx coolant.

I have 2 apevia fans on the dual rad and 1 corsair 120mm SP fan on the other rad.

Normal temps not on prime run around 25 degrees celsius.
I did a lot of research regarding the individual components, not so much into the overclocking though.
Do I have head room to overclock?

Hi and welcome to the forums smile.gif

Your temperature seems quite ok I must say, try to keep it under 70c (can go higher), and you should be safe and sound!
And man, it has been a while since I saw anyone using 80mm rads, must be several years at least haha! Perhaps invest in a good 360 rad later on, like the XSPC RX series (Top of the line when it comes to running silent fans).

Short answer: Yes you have a good bit of overclocking headroom and don't worry about it being hard, overclocking a 3770k is easy as it can be, and even a newbie can get a good 4.2ghz with no big problems! If you are unsure on how to, there are plenty of guides on both OCN and other places smile.gif

Temperatures are very good. You have enough room for overclocking your system.

The reason these rad's are so small is because I have a fairly/extremely crammed system, it's a micro ATX build, using silverstone's FT03 I might add. I know, I know, why why why mini atx build; I wanted one. The volume wasted in other systems amazes me really. Anyways, thanks to those who replied. So if I kept my system at 60 degrees celsius while overclocked on... idle? Would that be okay? What temps should I really be aiming for at idle/full load and at standard/overclocked mode?
