Max 200$ headset or headphones for gaming

Hi OCN

My Tritton Ax 720 died on me and I will not be replacing them because I do not have warranty anymore.

I am looking for nice comfortable headset with good sound, I really don't want it as big and heavy as the ax 720's.

Sound card : http://www.overclock.net/products/creative-sound-blaster-recon3d-fatal1ty-professional-70sb135600000-sound-card

Any recommendations ??? (provide a link please)

(ALSO NO MORE TRITTONS, I love the sound quality but the overall headset quality is terrible)

how important
music gaming? is it 50/50? which is more important to you?
do you want closed or open? open offer very little isolation meaning you will hear things around you, but have a large sound stage.

Gaming more important also good mic quality, open or closed don't really care that much

I've tried them they actually sound better than probably 99% of the "gaming" headsets on the market. If you want a set with a built in mic those will be great choices but it costs a bit, if you want to go the headphones route you have more options but you have to buy your own mic and that would be more cables.

While I have a Zalman mic, I actually use a PS3 Eye camera and it's mic while I game with my Denon D2000's in the mornings when I get home from work. The camera has a built in array of four mics so I can leave on my desk and talk normally or even whisper and still be picked up and heard quite clearly.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

But if you want a hassle free headset the PC360 is a better choice than most. thumb.gif

About to head out for work but depending on your price points (I know your max is $200) here are a couple of options I have enjoyed.

CAL $70

AD700 $100

The cal isn't as comfortable but it's a tremendous value while the the AD700 can be worn all day (or at least I can) tongue.gif but won't have much on the side of punch and impact but clean sound.

Amazingly good set of cans. Slap a $10 lapel/clip-on mic and you'd have a good quality set of headphones + mic. Heck, most of the time the mics on these "gaming" headsets tend to just be dinky, pieces of crap imo. At least this is what I'd consider doing if I had $200.

I have a set of Sennheiser PC350 I am selling for $100 shipped. They are $150-250 used/new everywhere else. They have the popular bass mod performed as well (increases bass response search head-fi pc350 bass mod for more info).

Overall condition is 8/10. There are some very minor scuffs hear and there, and the logo on the band is a little faded. But pads are in great condition, and they work beautifully. Only selling because I upgraded to Sennheiser HD600s.

Stay away from V-Moda, they are good yes, but they are more of a mobile headphone. You would get more out of a more full fledged headphone. Even if your not interested in mine, I would recommend BeyerDynamic DT770s for your price range. But my PC350s is a steal, they just sit on my desk so I'd like to get something out of them. Let me know.
