Constant driver crashing on gtx 670, HELP!!! - Page 2

i had the same thing with my asus gtx 670 top only in battlefield 3 .
it came from the factory oc boost which was too high (1306,5 mhz), but when i back it down to 1250-1200 mhz i had nearly no more crash.
with a fresh install of windows and the game , if i don't play any other game it work with stock oc for a while but it crash after a few weeks.

i switched to 1440p and my 670 was a bit short for it so i went back for amd and since i never had a driver crash on my 7970 even at the same clock (1300 mhz ) .

it s a bit strange because i can pass 3d mark firestrike at 1400 mhz on my gtx 670 with stock cooler but battlefield can't even lunch ...

Thank you for your responses guys. So I tested it in another system, didn't crash at all. I glad that it does not appear to be hardware related, since I would have to RMA it.

Aesthethc, I already uninstalled and reinstalled the latest driver, 314.22

Its just weird because until I played Tombraider, those drivers were working fine

Did you install the driver, like the guy mentioned earlier and checking a box with "Clean Installation" or something like that.... you have to physically check a box, also did you install in using Custom or Express? Usually what happens in driver corruption; is actually not the driver itself BUT other drivers conflicting with it... which causes these millisecond schedule-interrupts.... usually what i do when i re-install drivers is this:

1) Uninstall all NVidia drivers before uninstalling "NVidia Graphics Driver" (i.e. : PhysX, etc)
2) restart computer as directed
3) automatically install the Windows display drivers (automatic -- by Windows)
4) Double click the driver i want to install (in this case 314.22 -- for you)
5) Pick Custom Installation, never express
6) Uncheck the all the boxes except NVidia PhysX Software (the NVidia Graphics driver) itself is greyed out which means it you cannot opt it out -- obviously wink.gif
7) Check the box for "clean installation"
8) Click next
9) Wait for install, reboot when directed, then re-apply settings in NVidia Control Panel
10) Play!

If you follow those steps, you will minimize driver corruption (i do not know an EXACT reason why this happens) , but it has helped me with my driver problems (used to be troubleshooting for weeks)... and maybe it will help you with yours thumb.gif

+Rep. I will try this. Even if it doesn't solve the problem, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out man. It's not every day someone actually goes out of their way to help out with just another of THOSE graphics card problems.

Great, after uninstalled the physx and 3D drivers, (wouldn't let me do the audio and update ones) and restarted, I got this:

Really? Did you try rebooting after uninstalling the PhysX and 3D drivers, and then going back into control panel to uninstall them ? Usually it will ask you for a reboot after every driver you uninstall (like PhysX, HD Audio, or uhh the 3D drivers....) Basically right now what you want to do is rid yourself of ALL Nvidia drivers listed on control panel.

Do what you have to do, reboot after every time; but before you even install the driver itself, everything has to be removed. Or else you will install a driver over a faulty driver, and you may run into complications... To minimize that, you want to make sure everything on control panel listed under "nvidia" is gone...

Another option if you are having problem getting rid of drivers is downloading "Driver Sweeper", i heard you may need to boot into safe mode to use it; but you basically open it up and it will give you a bunch of check boxes, check all that says Nvidia - chipset/driver/physx or whatever, and uncheck the other things listed... it will list like a couple other more options... you dont need to get rid of those drivers JUST the nvidia so make sure those are the only ones checked

Before you even start the driver installation; make sure everything is CLEAN. Then in installation, make sure to only check "PhysX" and "Graphics Driver" leave everything unchecked. Try that specifically with my suggestions listed above ^^ if it isnt clean before installation it may fail (like what happened to you)

No luck. Maybe I did what you told me incorrectly, but I tried to follow every step. I'm so done with this thing I might just wipe my computer and redo everything

Can you take a picture of the error youre getting? Make sure to back up your info if you wipe it... So youve tried uninstalling all the drivers via Control Panel, restarted as many times as it suggested, what has happened?

have you even gotten to the part before installing the drivers, just cleaning it out in the first place? how does that work for you ?
