Need some help while doing my first PC build - Page 3

go for the z77 one for install after it doesn't matter much if you don't want to do raid or thing like that. anyway after you can move them it just for the install that you should avoid the marvell but i m not even sure it cause problem i ve just heard and read it better to avoid them before the mobo driver are installed.

the device priority is choosed in the bios , not linked to the ports, appart from the part where they are not reconized on the marvell before the mobo driver are installed.

Ok, thanks Ashuigei. I wasn't sure about that with the SATA connector ports. I though there might be some preferred order they be put in.

I still feel like I must be forgetting something before I start it up.. haha
post #23 of 35
well it's not that hard in the end :
put the ram in the good socket (primary , look mobo instructions)
2 cable from the psu to the mobo
1 or 2 cable from the psu to the graphic card
1 power , 1 data for hdd and optical ,
don't forget the cpu fan in the cpu fan connector so you don't get error message at startup saying there is no cpu fan or you have to change something in the bios to use another port and remove the error.
plug all everything behind ( some usb connector might not work in bios or before mobo driver install too , if you dont have keyboard or mouse try another couple of usb port in the back )
and that's all if i don't forget anything
if you forget something it s unlikely to do any harm to the computer anyway.
good luck

Thanks Ashuiegi. I think it's all hooked up. I just worry something isn't all the way plugged in or something like that. If it doesn't start I will have a panic attack.. haha

do whatever wherever. you can ghost that partition and copy it entirely to your new HDD later. then delete the one you were using.

It's running! Thank god I double checked everything before I started it because the cpu cooler wasn't locked in right.. I noticed it was rocking at the last second and FINALLY figured out how the things locked... I don't know why I didn't get that from the beginning.. so simple.

I installed windows and the drivers for the motherboard and graphics card.. now what do I do???

Oh.. I ran Windows test and the only thing that was mediocre was the harddrive...

Are there any threads on here for breaking your system in - guides?

One thing though.. this thing is noisy! haha But hopefully when I close it up it will quiet down a bit. I maybe should have gotten a better DVD drive because that thing is obnoxious haha

Thanks to you guys I couldn't have finished it up without you all. biggrin.gif

Great! thumb.gif
Now you can run blend test with Prime95 and use Coretemp to check that the temperatures are okay.
And I don't know about you, but I use my DVD drive like only once a month so the noise from that shouldn't be an issue.
