Thanks I will try those tests out. I use my PC for everything though.. so I might want to watch a movie. That wouldn't be impossible with this drive. haha And this case I have the Merc is wide open.. it's got openings all over and it's very thin. Maybe I could try to find some sound deadening material.

Maybe I could get some giant headphones? haha

the noise is most likely your intel stock cooler or some stock fan of your case , since you said you gonna change the intel cooler , look at this point if the noise is stil there , aftert it s either the case fan or the video card in general. for the optical drive are you sure you fixed it right ? if it use screw and not a quick lock system you might want to try some rubber washer to dump vibration.
i think you can close you case if you have some case fan and you have finished working on it

Put the gpu in last. Big and bulky and once its in there it will be hard to move around in the case.

It might be the combo of all these things but it's probably mainly the case. I had heard it is noisy. But for the price something has to give. I do really like this case though. I am much more impressed with it than I thought I would be based on the video reviews I had seen. But I had intended on this case being something to get by with until I could get something better.

I am actually really blown away by how well made the case is in many ways... it looks really good and it's well made. Bust because it is thin material there are some tiny errors in the fit and finish.

Also, the front plastic faceplate looks good but there is some discoloration in the material that might come from it being cheaply made.

Hey Dctr, I ended up just putting it in and it all works so far. This thing might be noisy but I love how it looks. The way the whole thing ties together visually is really nice. I am not used to having such eye pleasing PC hardware though so it my just be my noobness. wink.gif

One other thing is that because of the DVD drive being silver it detracts a bit from the all black look of the case. I am wondering if there might be some simple solution for this. Some cheap way of covering it or making it look black.. other than spray painting it haha.
