How to overclock AMD FX-6100 CPU?

Thread Starter
Hello,

I saw similar threads in this forum, but I need help to overclock AMD FX-6100 CPU with my PC spec, because I don't want to do something bad to my computer. BF3 Multiplayer (bigger maps) and Close quarters DLC sometimes lag a little for me, so could oveclocking help me to fix this problem? If yes, could you give me link to guide or video, that would work for my PC? Thank you.

My PC:

CPU: AMD FX 6100
Mother Board: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
Video card: Asus Radeon HD 7850 series 2 GB
RAM: 4 GB x 2

I have been trying to overclock my fx 6100 black edition and it's not that great, could you do me a favour and run a PassMark CPU test? and post your scores? i've got it to 4.2ghz stable at the moment but my scores are about 4000 compared to others that hit 8000 :/

The stock FX6100 wont bottleneck an HD7850, this means its your videocard that's holding you back.
You should overclock the HD7850 instead, or at least turn down graphics settings.

If you are dead set on overclocking your cpu even though it wont improve BF3, read these

Your motherboard supports 125watt cpus so I think you are relatively safe even up to 4.5 Ghz.
But make sure you read this so you understand:

I decided not to OC my CPU. Do you know a OC guide, that would work for my video card?

hello,
basic's would be a guess then, cool and quiet is a pain if as it clocks your cpu up and down and will cause what appears to be lag, best thing to do is turn your windows power options to high power or balanced, the latter will still allow down clock.

your 4.2 is unstable,
but which cooler are you using please?
