Though even without the auction houses, d2jsp or similar sites would have been the go-to place.

I wouldn't say the auction houses directly hurt the game, but building the loot system around the auction houses is what hurt it. Just turn up the drop percentages on everything and it'll be fine.

We actually banned builds like frozen orb sorc, lightning trap assassins, hammerdins, and really any other class that did massive AOE damage while teleporting around. It was so fun playing with large parties... frown.gif

I would play a Smiter with 2 other Smiters. We were pretty much invincible, but had no AoE at all in the party so it could take a while to hack&slash through some parts of Hell.
We would typically use JSP to trade for keysets, run Uber Trist all day, and then sell whatever torches we didn't want in order to buy more keysets and gear up our other characters.

My Smiter is seriously B.A. It's the only character I've ever been able to beat the Ubers with - it just does not die.

My favorite party though is a Smiter, a Hammerdin, and a Summoner. You can have every offensive party boost aura in the game active simultaneously with a Smiter + Hammerdin, and several defensive ones too. The necro's army is fierce with all those buffs.

You could beat ubers with Smiters because they were build to take on ubers. biggrin.gif Very few things survive against a smiter after he gets that stun lock going, it's GG. I loved my Zealot. While not as strong as most of my other characters, I just felt like such a badass diving into huge mobs of enemies and play whack-a-mole until they all die.

I don't think Diablo III did as much as it should have to progress the ARPG genre, however I still think it was a solid game and a little bit underappreciated. I spent nearly 1000 hours playing and I enjoyed it. I really have high hopes for the expansion being the game people were hoping for.

There's a really easy fix that would prevent people from "playing" the game by flipping items instead of actually playing it, as well as curtail the rampant price gouging that takes place in the auction house. All Blizzard has to do is make it so that items can only be sold or traded once in their lifetime. This would still allow for the original intention of the auction house, which was to let people offload gear they don't need in exchange for items they want, while eliminating the possibility to flip items and subsequently charging ludicrous prices for them.

Another smaller fix that would help is a limit on the number of times an item can be put up for auction when it goes unsold. This would force people to reduce their prices as they neared the limit, thus helping with the price inflation.

I also defeated the entire thing through Inferno and it was extremely disheartening when they nerfed the thing in future patches. After the patches it was no big deal to run through inferno.

It is always disappointing to see a game nerfed. I don't mind easy modes, but the toughest mode is supposed to be a real challenge. Something that requires skill to complete. They nerf these things to make them more "accessible". Well if Inferno is too hard then people should stick to the easiest difficulty levels.

For me Diablo 3 was very disappointing. Luckily I had Torchlight 2, which despite the much different aesthetic played a lot like what I had hoped Diablo 3 would play like.

Then people will just use D2JSP and have a 3rd party auction house....

what killed Diablo 3 was the simple things. (killing of cain, no runewords, no ladder, no pvp, no lobbies(channels), no create a room/join a room, no original characters/voices but the barbarian, no runes) I think you get my point. This shouldn't have to come from a expansion.

I haven't logged in in months. Whatever happened to PvP? I know it was supposed to come along later but did they just say "forget it" or what? That was 1 thing I was actually looking forward to. I'm sure I'm so far behind now it would be hopeless anyway. Made enough from RMAH in the 1st few weeks it was out to cover the cost of the game and all the other games I bought last year so I can't be too mad at it.
