People hating on AMD systems...

Thread Starter
Have you all had to deal with people trying to trash talk to you about your system because it is an AMD build?
In the past it really didn't seem to matter to people much which cpu manufacture you went with... now it seems like people are just mindless lemmings that stick to whatever is popular. Instead of dpi g their own research and testing, they go by what their friend's friend says or what the best buy rep told them when they bought their HP, Apple or Emachines there.

I could easily pull out a benchmark and make them secretly cry over their overpriced rebuilt systems, but I try to take the higher road and just ignore people like that. The problem is, it happens way to often these days. :/
/rant

Has anyone else noticed this lately?

I am happy with my 5.2ghz AMD FX8350 smile.gif, glad I picked it.

Also, since this a AMD board, are there any suggestions on how to get a FX8350 stable over 5.3ghz? My temps never go above 55c-60c, so I am not thermally limited. I've tried multiple voltage settings, but 5.2 seems to be as high as I can get stable right now.

I never had people trash talk my system. I've had people ask me to build them one like it, but never trash talk it. They did laugh at my ancient yamaha speakers though.

First off, wrong section for this, I'm sure they will close it soon. But yes this happens to me a lot, I don't really care cause for what I want, my system handles it perfectly. That is all that should matter to anyone.

Yes, but when someone says that you know they are jealous smile.gif. My system runs any game perfectly. Can't wait to get a working H220, had to RMA current one, because it was broken out of the box :S

Nice overclock! but I'm sorry to say that you are somewhat thermally limited. AMD CPU's are made differently from Intel CPU's and have different thermal tolerances. 62c is the max rated temperature for BD/PD chips and I would be uncomfortable pushing against that all the time.

Edit: 5.2 is also golden-chip level if you are really stable at that. I can't get full stability at 5.0, but I'm pretty solid at 4.9.

I built my girlfriend an AMD system... PII X4 955 @ 3.6GHz + Twin Frozr GTX 660 + 16GB of RAM @ 1600MHz + 240GB Samsung 840 + SB Titanium HD. Paired it with a Dell 1080P IPS monitor and Klipsch 2.1 speakers, she loves it.

Running prime, 5.2 is the highest stable I can get. Even slightly higher and it lock up. Depending on what I am doing I will sometimes lower it to 5.0, since I don't need to be pushing quite that high for most tasks.
For 5.2 I set up a 100+ cfm fan near my cpu just to blow cooler air over the voltage core. Without the added air, that heat builds up pretty quick lol

Enjoy your system. I choose that brand you choose that. You will always meet these people that laugh with your system because they think that their choices is superior. Dont be upset

8350@5.2 is such a beast cpu. When i will find the money i will grab one too because my old 965be system is a bit slow nowdays.thumb.gif

I've had ignorant people hate on AMD as a whole company. Stupid arguments like 'Intel is the best because I have used an i3 and it is fast'.

Then there's the fanboys, but I don't even start arguing with those. As useful as talking to a shoe.
