Wich ASUS MB is best for overclocking on i7 2600k ?

Hello to all!

Since 1-2 weeks i read on forums about overclocking my i7 2600k processor and try to choose best mb for this, because when i bought this configuration (see bellow) i dindnt know the H67 i have is blocking the full overclocking :|

After reading and reading. opinions are not the same because of diffrent configurations and pc use:

Here is my configuration:

Processor i7-2600K SandyBridge, 3400Mhz, 8MB, socket 1155, Box [BX80623172600K_S_R00C]
Mainboard Asus P8H67/REV3.0, socket 1155
Kit Dual Channel Corsair 8GB (2 x 4GB), DDR3, 1333MHZ, Radiator [CMX8GX3M2A1333C9]
Raidmax Cyclone 316V, Black [RMX-Cyclone316B]
Solid-State-Disk (SSD) Corsair ForceGT 90GB, SATA3
HDD Western DIgital 1TB, 7200RPM, 64MB, SATA3 [WD1002FAEX]
Video HIS HD5670 ICEQ, 1024MB, 128bit, GDDR5, PCI-E [H567Q1GD]
Power supply: Corsair CMPSU-700G 700W, ATX 2.3
Monitor Samsung S27A950D 27' / 1080p Full HD, 3D, 120mhz DP, HDMI, DVI

Here is a detailed text from CPUID aplication with all informations:

Details Configuration.txt 5k .txt file

I USE my PC for:

I browse the internet and watch movies a lot, have many tabs in my browser, and i need and like to have best speed in applications.
I produce music and i use a lot of big powerfull audio apps like reason, ableton etc wich need a lot of cpu and ram, and connect with diffrent external audio tools/devices like midi, audio interfaces, firewire etc. i think u get the point, so i need as much connectivity as i can get.
I don`t play games a lot, just from time to time, so video gaming is not an important factor for me, but if it can increase system performance why not do rely on this factor too.
I work with medium and big files on my hdds a lot, since waves audio files and movies use lot of space etc.

NOW:

Wich mb (only from ASUS because i like and understand their Bios) from these ones bellow are the best for overclocking a system and that will suit best for me, id like to have a 5ghz cpu or even more and maximize my ram performances.

P67 series / Z68 series / Z75 series / Z77 series / H77 series or newer mb or other that is not listed here

IvyBridge or PCie 3.0 is not a must for me, since after i finish my overclock i will use this system for at least 2 years, so ill not buy new processor or video, but if mb with ivybridge gen 3 versions have other improvements that can work for me is ok.

I will sell my current P8H67 and add some extra money so i have around 200 budget for the mainboard and lets say 50 for a good cooler for the CPU since i have only stock cooler now.

Thank you in advance! i really hope with your pro advices will choose the best mb for me.

P8Z77-V or P8Z77-V Pro. Lots of other comparable choices from other manufacturers under $180 if you're interested.

u mean like Z68 deluxe or pro for example?
You probably won't find any new Z68, P67 board at this moment that is cheaper than equivalent Z77 board. They don't worth considering imho.

By saying that there are lots of other options from other manufacturers, I meant Gigabyte, MSI and etc.

Agreed. You might as well go Z77 (pro).

well actually i can find z68 and p67 not new, i dont want really new but to work, i found second hand price, at a computer service that provide warranty too, they are selling them because their customers upgrade to newer mbs, so if i find z68 to get it or is better z77?
Depends on price difference, and whether you're okay to have it used.

lets say this way, i can find all 3 i dont care about the price, only for the performances, in this case if i can choose btw all 3, best choice is z77?
Performance should be about the same. Z77 chipset has the most amount of features, so it's the best.

well is big difrence in price between P8Z77-V and P8Z77-V Pro smile.gif maybe this will work: Witch other versions are good of Z77, the ones after P8Z77-V, like LX / LK etc and till V-PRO, because -V -LK -LX etc have about the same prices and maybe more features wink.gif

like we established the PRO is the best, than wich one is the second best after the pro in the series?
