Actually there were a lot of rumors of new cards this spring. There really is not a lot to do though, as there is no process shrink, and new cards won't be out until the end of the year at earliest.

AMD said that the 7970 will remain the top single gpu from them for all the 2013.And at the end of the year we should expect a new architecture

After the first comments hit the tech press about the 7970 being their top product through the year they came out to clarify that there would be new products before 2014. To be honest no one except AMD really knows what time frame they are going to launch their next product family until they get within a couple months of actually doing it.

Id think twice about Crossfire if i were you - it looks like micro stutter is still a huge issue (i was thinking of CF since Tomb Raider/Bioshock 3/Crysis 3 are pretty freaking demanding if you put it on ultra)

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/60166-nvidia-gtx-titan-vs-sli-crossfire-5.html

its pretty gross - those are with 13.2 Beta 7, i know i got pretty good improvements with 13.3 Beta...but i really doubt theyve fixed microstutter by Crossfire.

Because i have tri-fire i can tell you that tomb raider, crysis and bioshock is butter smooth. The only game that have problem is far cry 3.

This^. I have a two card 7950 crossfire. Only problem I have is Far Cry 3. I've been playing a ton of Crysis 3 and haven't seen microstutter even once. *knock on wood* Rebuilding my system (New motherboard, cooler, and case) with fresh windows install, but I don't forsee any problems.

The 8000 series is hiding along with Half-Life Three in the depths of the Aperture Science Facility.

No but seriously, we were hyped to believe Feb/March, AMD cancelled out on us and put more work into their Richland APU's instead.

With the re-bound from the new-gen consoles, AMD might improve the 8000 design for when it actually comes out, but thats just speculation.
