[Tech-Radar]AMD on the PS4: We gave it the hardware Nvidia couldn't - Page 2

From what I have seen of the specs for both the PS4 and the new Xbox I have to say there not that bad for the consoles with optimization there going to be pull 30 fps at 1080p with ok textures nothing super amazing but good. for the average person that just fine and I think this gen is going to be good for pc gamers to, seeing the are run of x86 which should make porting easier I think it going to be a win win this time around. tho I cant really blame Nvidia for being sticks in the mud fornot getting the next gen consoles, that really hurts there bottom line but I have to say it makes them look small and petty talking crap about the specs hell if they got the deal it would not be any better then they are now. And compared to titan it real easy to say there crap but for the average user there not real out of line and they will be a good little gaming systems. biggrin.gif

Well, Nividia stated that they're more interested in the mobile market.

If they succeed, they'll make a lot more money than AMD or even Intel from the smartphones and tablets. And possibly dictate how mobile apps will be designed, which will be a pain for Intel (their GPUs aren't the greatest), and especially AMD (financially broke).

If they fail, then they would have to contend with console ports that were designed on AMD's APUs, with limited cash from discrete laptop/desktop GPU sales. And Intel is going to keep throwing more silicon die at the GPU problem.

I think IBM is more content with just staying in the background, eating popcorn, and stockpiling on an absurd patents. I do believe they filed or were granted a patent, that patented the process of filing a patent.

Looking at the title alone, its definitely one of those "cool story bro" moments

But I realize that AMD is a business and capitalizing on good PR is just common sense business logic lol

Hurry up and rebuild your performance CPU's! We need more competition biggrin.gif

I said this before and I'll say it again:

Consoles don't use new tech, they use proven tech.

You will NEVER see a console with new tech. NEVER. As a company - if that new tech fails, do you really want to deal with the repercussions? Of course not.

Besides, we all know that you don't need new tech to perform well. You just need specially engineered tech along with specially engineered games. Just like the new slim PS3 can't play PS2 games. It doesn't have the processor power to emulate the Emotion processor but does that mean it has less power than a PS2? Obviously not.

Why compete against your competitor's strength (Intel's x86 CPU performance), when you can flank it by pushing for widespread adaptation of GPU-computing?

Anyone remember the era where the CPU did the graphic workload and the GPU simply converted one type of signals to another?

It would be a hard sell from what is currently available

Well i could careless whos hardware is in it.

What i care about is price and how the games look.

Also it will be nice to see alot of new gaming taking full advantage of HT...

I would also like to see a true 8 core Intel cpu does not matter what socket it is on i would have it.

I truly hope that if they start coding to utilize all cores and threads on consoles it spreads among all developers, even the PC only devs.

You can get a true 8 core Intel, they are called Xeons and cost an arm and a leg.
