Its an old reciever. Very old. Easily late 80's since my folks had it before I was born.
Open for suggestions as far as a receiver and headphones go.

Some people swear by old receivers with tubes and analog sound. They pay premiums for that over a really nice digital system tongue.gif

There is no noticeable difference, No difference. Unless there is something in the adapter changing the sound then what you are doing is just placing an adapter on something.
Small wonder.

I see. So age would have nothing to do with overall sound quality? I would presume no by what you said, but that one part of me says that it might.
Either way I want to get a new one since this one doesn't have any HDMI, component, or a subwoofer input(s).

There most certainly is a difference, and it is mainly in the preamp section of the receiver that makes the difference when it comes down to different receivers. Not all tube receivers sound the same, and not all solid state receivers sound the same. The Opamps or tubes and other relevant components used in the receiver "color" the sound in a specific way. How much of a difference that is noticeable is directly related to who is listening to the receiver. Some people can pick up on subtle nuances that others cannot.

Whether or not a boutique/vintage receiver is worth the extra cash to justify the difference in tone is purely subjective. Some people have very particular tastes, and will spend extra to fulfill their needs. Personally, I prefer solid state amplifiers and preamps, but thats just my personal preference.

Interesting.
So in that case you would recommend going down to Best Buy or Fry's and trying out any of the receivers they have on display and see what fits my taste before I blindly order one off Newegg/Amazon?

As far as headphones go, I pretty much listen to all music, but im primarily Metal, Trance, Wubstep, and Techno. So any suggestions there or I should go research if myself?

As with anything, reputable reviews are the first line of defense. You need a source of unbiased information that you can rely on. Auditioning receivers at your local BB or Fry's is also a good idea, just keep in mind that just because it sounds good doesn't necessarily mean that its a reliable unit, which is where the reviews come in.

All in all, sound is very subjective, it all boils down to what your preference is and how much you want to spend. No one can really determine that for you biggrin.gif, we can only guide you in the right direction. Good luck!
