You really should look into practicing up on your soldering skills. It's not all that hard to do, can be done with fairly inexpensive equipment and supplies, and can be made to look far more professional. Decent skill to pick up.

I've got a cheap ($15) temp adjustable soldering station, a fat roll of old school leaded solder, some good wire strippers and various sizes of heatshrink. I've also done a lot of soldering with just a Bic lighter. Still do if I don't want to wait for the station to heat up if I'm doing one or two connections.

I look forward to seeing where you end up with the LED strips.

I would advise this as well. It's always good to have many talents. The terminals are easier, but solders are more solid.

What I would do is buy a cheap PSU, like one of the ones for 20 bucks or so, and buy some cheap strip LEDs and practice wiring them up. 30-40 bucks and you will have a nice LED test bed. You can ground out the required pins on you PSU to make it a test PSU and just hook up your LEDs to them. This gives you a chance to work with wiring and such.
