I received my new PSU like 2 days ago and after many painful hours of cable management (those BitFenix extensions make it 10x harder...) I finally started up my computer only to find out my PSU is defective and needs to be replaced...
When I first started it up I heard something like a spark, and after that there's a constant rattling/sparkling noise. The fan stays still (as it should be) so it has to be something electric and that's not good at all.
I tried removing the extensions but the noise stays the same. Do you think this could have been caused by them? Last time I checked the only danger of using extensions was getting the connectors burnt due to bad contact and sparks, but nothing seems or smells burnt.
I now have to send it back to Amazon in the UK and choose whether I want a replacement or a different PSU. I really like the looks of this PSU but now I'm worried about their quality control. Would I be better off with an EVGA SuperNOVA G2 or a Be Quiet Dark Power Pro P10? I like the looks of the EVGA but I don't know if they're noisy.
I previously avoided long PSUs like these two due to clearance issues, but now a new case is in my plans so this changes things.
I just want a good performing, quality, silent PSU with good aesthetics.
