[NYT] New Phone by Facebook to Showcase Its Network - Page 2

Heck, I don't even have a Facebook lol.
When I'm at a restaurant or bar, my attention is on whoever I'm with. I always found it rude when someone starts texting or in this case, checking their FB when out with people. Then again, I'm pretty old fashioned.

That's not old fashioned. That is common courtesy. Sometimes I don't even understand why people bother to go out with friends or to a party if they're just going to be constantly checking their phone. Then again, I've always despised Facebook's "power users" so I can't say I'm objective.

---

Seems like this will just be another phone with even more Facebook integration. Worst thing in history? Probably not. But it will probably be a middle of the road to device with sales just like it. It is tough to penetrate the cell market with your own device, but with Facebook's name and users (along with marketing on FB itself) I'm sure they will be able to get a decent following. I think it will be utter crap compared to the latest offerings, but that's how cell phones go anyway.

I agree. I text and others text here and there, but when people do it constantly it can be irritating. Especially when you're at the theatre, I just love it when people decide to update their statuses 20 times throughout a movie.

I think this phone will do well, since it seems nearly everybody on the face of the planet has a fb account.

No, it means you're just a psychopath according to some recent articles and now employers can't stalk you. tongue.gif
At my last job 2 people were fired.... because of facebook.

I should reserve judgement until the phone is actually announced, but I don't really see the point in a Facebook phone when I can get to the Facebook app with a single tap on literally any smartphone on the market and then do anything I could do on the full site.

I'm happy for you.
Sadly because my generation have grown up with it, it is a necessity to have it if I want to be able to keep up with what is going on amongst my friends.
(All 3 of them. But if I don't keep up with the throwaway's then I can't fit in with them all, a shame really.)

Nobody at my school even uses Facebook anymore. Everyone's moved onto Twitter and Instagram here.

I remember not using FB for three years during my high school year.

For three years I was not told of any hangouts or parties with a few rare exceptions. Because they were rarely spread by word-of-mouth or text messages, as it was assumed almost everyone used FB.

But it's okay. Friends are disposable. Right?

Neither do I, yes it's normal. Unless you have "haters", then you have to have Facebook so they know that you don't care what they think.

This. I don't have a FB account and some friends had the audacity to confront me on why I haven't been in touch or meeting for stuff or parties... I had a hard time forming words for a few seconds, as I recalled my several unanswered, unreturned calls I made to said friend. Was a doh.gif moment.

Sad your made to feel an outcast by "friends" cause you don't use something you don't like... Oh well, helped thin down the herd and your left with the better ones after.

So for me, FB acts as a sort of "friend buffer" and keeps the annoying people away thumb.gif
