Why my Far Cry 3 stop responding?

Thread Starter

I am putting this in this forum because i think it is my cpu

I OCed my cpu, the game worked great prior at stock and 4.2ghz, but now after a few minutes it stops responding. I have it at 4.4ghz currently

Could it be the OC that is making the game unstable? I was stress tested and worked fine with everything else

I had a problem running the game at first; so many times it crashed on me on optimal settings. I'm running an i5 3570k oc'd to 4.4ghz. Though the game can be CPU intensive; you might want to try downclocking your oc on your GPU if you haven't already. Also try using direct x9. That seems to have given me the stability to run the game without having to downclock my CPU. At the moment I haven't had anymore crashes running it on Direct x9 with settings on very high using an HD 7950 stock clocks. I hope this helps. This game can really put some stress on both your CPU and GPU.

Did you happen to try installing and uninstalling it? I didn't get it off of Steam so I'm using Uplay which apparently is much worse. Try going to your start menu and type far cry 3. Once you find that go to gamer profile, and edit UseD3D11 to "0" instead of one. That should change it to Direct x9. Make sure u down clock your GPU to stock settings. This game seems to not like overclocked cards.

Well you have to let us know what happens when it stops working. What kind of error do you get? It would be best if you could make it crash and then take a screenshot of it.

Did you happen to try downloading the new drivers from Nvidia? I just downloaded the new beta driver from AMD and it significantly improved my performance. I can now run Ultra settings on Directx11 without problems. This game honestly needs a lot of Optimization.

when it happens again look at the time on your pc and then go into event viewer and find the error that happened according to time. since I am assuming there are tons of them.
