Some advise please.

My parents (who don't live close by) currently went to replace their printer. They first tried Best Buy, and couldn't get the pc to recognize the new printer. They went to Staples and again had issues, so my father took in the desktop to have them get it to work. This was all done without them notifying me cause they didn't want to "take up my time". doh.gif

Together, we built a very nice i7 3770, nice ram...etc with windows 8 home edition a month ago. I went to install MS essentials and was notified win8 already has it built in to the system. The computer is mainly used for web surfing, Skype, and Word Processing. Steam is also installed though he has yet to have installed any games. My father accesses his stock investments though their websites, though dose not save passwords, or information on this pc. I am concerned to the risk of what blotwear or if the "great Staples employee" will add any thing to compromise the security.

I have read this link with great interest

http://www.overclock.net/t/1371690/my-internet-activity-s-being-tracked

so I am wondering how to tell what was added or changed to his pc after he dropped it off.

Thank you in advance for your time.

One should always keep his or hers parents on a short leash. It's unlikely that any staplebloatware will divert his investments to Curacoan bank accounts. Just scan it properly when you get home again and you should probably chuck out whatever printer they've bouth and replace it with a high capacity Laser printer just to be sure.
