SLI GTX 560s and NV Surround questions

Thread Starter
I'm tight on cash, but really want a surround setup for some games. What I'm wondering is if I can use my center monitor (1920x1080 23") and the two side monitors (1680x1050 22") in a surround setup with GTX560s. I know it wouldn't be optimal, but figured it would work until I got more money to get two more 23" monitors.

Or should I try and sell the 560 and just get two 660s or something, which would then leave me without a way to game while waiting.

It'll work provided 3 conditions are met -

A) they all run the same resolution (1680x1050 in this case)
B) they all have the same refresh rate
C) they all have the same sync polarity

Ah. I was hoping I could just have the 1920x1080 with bars on top and bottom or something. So probably just be best to wait til I get 2 more of the same monitors then so it looks decent.

And gtx560s sli or just wait til I can get 660s sli (can probably get 1 660 now, then wait.

I would just keep the 560's if you're already tight on cash, and put the money on something else for your life. Or save it. I just upgraded from one 570 to two in SLI yesterday (and have yet to play with everything) and even at $180 for the second card it's hardly justified. But now I should be able to run Crysis 3, Witcher 2, Metro series, etc at full graphics with good FPS.

I personally run only 1 monitor, but if you're gonna run 3 monitors, it depends on what games you're playing. Because 560's have limited vram, like my 570's do, and from what I understand (sorry if I'm wrong about the details) games with large view distances, or that otherwise consume a lot of VRAM will not run so well on multimonitor setup. The performance difference isn't super huge though, so test it yourself first.

Why having a shortage of VRAM can be countered: (Partially)

I have no idea if this is how it works in reality, but this is how my brain understands it:

<<The lack of VRAM with two 560's is compensated by the combined speed with SLI. Although the ram is fully loaded and your "theoretical" cache of spare VRAM is limited, the speed of the SLI combo will cycle things in and out more. With this setup you need to have the speed of your SLI high, just for cycling information in and out of the VRAM.>>

What games DO you play?

Just WoW, D3, S2, etc. Those types of games.
