Cutting PSU csbles.

So I have a semi modular PSU and I am currently sleeving the built in 24 pin connector. I want to remove the extra PCI cables because they get in the way and I have plenty of modular PCI connections. Can I cut the at the solder join and call it a day. Would dropping a bead of hot glue help insulate the cables if I decide to cut the wires behind the cutout where they exit the psu? I don't have a soldering iron so desoldering is out of the question.

Thanks!

If you have not already done it, make sure you drain the caps on the PSU if you are opening it up. If you dont know how to, look it up. People have been killed by discharging a cap with their hand.

I would probably clip the wires and cover the exposed ends individually with heatshrink tubing. This will obviously void your warranty though, so make sure its worth it.

I had the power supply removed from the wall for a whole day now. I will make sure the caps are dry though. Alas I dont have heat shrink. I'll buy some tomorrow.
