So, EVGA 670 FTW vs Asus GTX 670 DCII - Page 4

So between your AMD setup and the new 670s you've had 3 cards die in a row? Not to sound patronizing but are you properly grounding yourself when you handle these cards?

If so you might want to look at your PSU... I mean it could just be bad luck but getting that many lemons in a row is pretty rare. wth.gif

Nah I still got my original 7950 that I am planning to sell but haven't yet. Still working beautifully for me.

Asus DCUII are horrid for overclocking. And they take up 3 slots. The only advantage are the temps.

Not true , they are excellent overclockers and they are 2 slot cards , i don't know where you get your info but it's really an unreliable source wink.gif

My source is my experience. In theory, they would handle overclocking well. But a 35mhz OC is terrible. Even, when I maxed out the voltage, it was unstable passed 35 mhz.

Believe me, I was about to get another DCUII unit for either a 670 or a 7950. Until I read the reviews on the Egg. Apparently people are going through multiple RMAs, as many cards werent even stable out of the box. That to me is a red flag. Theres a reason why a few DCUII, or whatever theyre called now, are discontinued.

Other than the low oc of my DCUII (1235mhz), it works flawless, very cool and dead silent. I can only recomment it. But from what i have read in forums, ftw overclocks higher but are more noisy ofc.

Imo get the cheaper one since oc is pure luck.

grab this: MSI N670GTX PE 2GD5/OC
and you do not need the EVGA style backplate for looks.

It was actually the TOP version that got discontinued, but I can agree on the DC2 not being the greatest overclocker.

I would personally go with the EVGA. I've seen great overclocking results on them and in case you ever want to watercool, getting a waterblock is easy.

Guys he went evga and then they borked on him. That's really sad to hear though. Mines worked beautifully from day one. Hopefully the new gigabyte cards will do you good.
