Is your chip a rev. C2 or C3? If C3 you could probably just do with that with a little voltage bump. If it's C2 I'd not even try as it's kind of a much bigger voltage bump after passing 3,8GHz.

Now, as for coolers, a Mugen 2 worked for me, so pretty much any big one will do if it's half decent.

my x4 955be is c3 and my voltage is 1.45v

I would say your close to what you should expect with that cooler. And to be honest I would call teh Frio more of a sidegrade that an upgrade.

What speed are your fans running at? 1.45v on a phenom II will produce some heat.

I myself run the original H70 on my 955 C3. With it overclocked to 3.96Ghz voltage at 1.392-1.4v under load I get 50-53C with my P&P radiator fans running at about 1500rpm(also sp120's). With the H60 having a thinner Rad I would say that the cooling it is providing seems about right on par depending on the ambient temps and the temps inside the case.

As to achieving 4Ghz, is your NB overclocked? Ram overclocked? What are the voltages running through those? Are you looking to just boot and validate 4Ghz? or run it 24/7?

heres my bios http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/2883/cam00037sy.jpg so the thermaltake firo ock wouldnt be much of an upgrade and i wanted to see if i could run my cpu at 4ghz 24-7

If you really want to hit 4Ghz 24/7 you will need to drop your NB speed and CPU/NB voltage. The memory controller on these systems is implemented in the CPU. So raising the CPU/NB voltage will increase CPU temps, And a higher NB clock will affect CPU clock stability as well.

But to be completely honest, you will get better performance with your current overclock over what you want to do. The NB overclock will net you a better overall performance boost than that measly 100mhz on the cpu alone.

I run about the same on my chip. 3.96Ghz on the CPU and about 2700 on the NB. CPU core voltage is at 1.392-1.40v under load and the NB is at 1.24-1.27v under load.

what should my nb speed be at and what cpu/nb volts be at do u think
post #19 of 22
Myself also had a Areocool case and tried to fit a Coolermaster heatsink in it but would not fit. I then had to cut the case open to take the cooler out soo I would be very carefull with these cases. What about a custome watercooled loop or somthing?

It will vary chip to chip. When you said your temps are 53C is that while gaming or while running prime95?

Only other thing you could try would be to up the multi on the NB one notch and bump the CPU/NB voltage up a notch or two and check for stability. At this point Temps will be your largest limiting factor. With my experiences, my chip does not really like anything over 55C. Once i break that 55-56C barrier on the cores I seem to loose some stability. And reading around that seems to be a rather common thing with the Phenom II Denab chips.

With a stable overclock of 3.9Ghz and 2.6Ghz, I would say your pretty much set for 24/7. especially with 1.45v going through the cpu.
