Yeah but I have that stuttering at FPS lower than 120 as well. Even if I get 90 FPS in BF3, the game stutters and can only be smooth when I FPS lock the game to 119. Interesting to be honest.

No what I do is when I set my FPS lock to 119, the game never goes above 119 fps. I never use VSYNC with this method as well and the screen tearing is minimal. So this technique not only elimintas stuttering for me in some games, it also makes sure the screen tearing is extremely minimal which is not a bother as well. Hence no need to use vsync.
