hi all.if i may suggest?
why not use fancontroller to shut fans off
and on when needed?
are you sure its fan noise? not airflo noise?
you said dust?right?
maybe try blowing dust out/of with a compressor on low psi and suck out/up dust with vacuum cleaner or proper dust out with a soft paint brush and cloth.
ive done all above and compressor workd best and quick.
try if you can and post back after you done some cleaning

I know it's annoying to read a long thread trough, but i already fixed my noisy fans, now the problem is coilwhine that was not heard behind the old fans wink.gif
All that's left is to do specify the source and throw it out the window

Seems to be a not uncommon problem of your GPU.

Try overclocking it slightly, or underclocking slightly(depending on what you want) this can get rid of coil whine. It worked for me. I only get coil whine when I am at stock settings. I isolated my whine to my MB, but when I am OCed it doesn happen nearly at all.

It was a very good GPU in it's day. Still not exactly a bad one but whining isn't a nice sound. Maybe RMA it to Asus? Get in touch with them and see. Document the whine in your computer with and without GPU in to prove it's GPU whine and send them a copy of the video so they can't say they found no problem. wink.gif

i did read trhrough hole post.
i had similar probs with a gigabyte gtx460/OC gpu.
it got a bit dusty
dust = airflo restriction = more heat generated = more stress on components == dying component.

like others said here somwhere unplug all fans . then spring clean pc
then run setup with only gpu fans on.stress test and use sound meter or heat meter to pin point the source of issue.if you got these equipment.
heat sensor: the hottest spot might point out the source of coil wine.try testing components seperately in different setups if yo can and see if you can spot the culpret.

if not.app world has a free sound meter app on play store.i use/used it a couple times.works very accurately.
