does anyone know how long Seasonic RMA takes?

Thread Starter
I sent my Seasonic x850 in for RMA and it arrived at Seasonic on Friday. I'm just wondering how long it is going to take to get back to me. I'm going crazy not being able to use my rig and I haven't heard anything from Seasonic. This is my first RMA and I don't know how it works. My power supply wasn't DOA but it was making a quiet squeaking and chirping sound so I figured a cap was bad or something like that. I believe that may have been making my overclock unstable because I was able to achieve a higher overclock when going to a new motherboard and using my old Seasonic PSU so its kind of hard for me to pinpoint if it was the motherboard or the PSU that was providing instability. I really hope they don't send it back telling me that it works and it is not broken and makes me pay $25 for shipping.

IDK but it surprises me that they don't xship.

Ultra and Corsair both sent out replacement units first and paid shipping.

I never got an email them, but they provided me with an RMA number and the address to send it too after I completeled the RMA questions, but I just think its strange that I never received an email.

A word of warning: don't send it in the original box if you value it.

I RMA'd a unit to Seasonic in the original box, and received my replacement unit only in a UPS box. It worked though, and that's what counts I suppose.

Almost all RMAs that I've had to do have included in the instructions to not send anything that isn't broken :3

Well it was making a sqeaking and chirping noise. Probably a bad cap and I wasn't going to wait until it died and took all of my components with it.

Yes I made sure to not include the original box and cables.

So how long did it take??
Probably a few days to a week and then the return shipping time.

I like to keep a backup gpu and psu on hand for issues like this. A backup or wifes rig(in my case) is also workable. If something dies you can just hook up another till you get it back.

Hope it doesn't take to long for you, would hate to have my rig down for an amount of time.

Thanks for the response. Yea I'm going absolutely nuts. I have a Seasonic M12II 620w, but it won't support my crossfire 7950's so I'm going to just have to wait. Sucks because I have my beautiful new case (Phantom 820), board (ASUS MVE), and CLC cooler (H100i) all installed and ready to go. I jump started the 620w yesterday just to make sure all of the fans and lights were working fine since I would have time to RMA if anything was wrong. It works great though!

I have called Seasonic about a hundred times to check the status of my RMA, but I keep getting an "extension not available" answer and it tells me to leave a message, but no one ever calls me back. Ridiculous. When I was choosing a PSU I chose Seasonic because I kept hearing how AMAZING their customer service was. I think that's a bunch of BS that a huge company like that doesn't even have anyone to answer their RMA extension. I wish that they had something on their site mentioning how you can do an "accelerated RMA" or whatever it is called when they send you a PSU right away for a little extra money. I guess you have to call to do that, but how is one supposed to a call if no one ever answers the phone.

Sorry, just had to vent a little bit.
