Need a New Laptop --- Suggestions?

Hey all.

So my 2005 Dell Inspiron 6000 finally kicked the bucket (seems like the mobo somehow overheated and shorted) and a new laptop is now in my sights.

I am in a struggle though---I'm not sure if I want something that is purely portable, an in-between, or can actually do awesome video and gaming. Knowing me, I would want to be watching high-res movies and do some mid-level gaming, but I don't want my shoulder to hurt after 20 minutes of the laptop being in my bag...and it'd be nice if the battery would last more than 3 hours.

I love the build and quality of the Macbook Pro (gorgeous screen and lightweight), but I don't want to spend the same amount as the down-payment for my new car!

And here's another kicker...I actually like Windows 8. (Haha, I know you all are going to slam me for this.) But most Windows 8 laptops I've played with just feel cheap, plastic, and gimmicky.

My budget: I'd prever to keep it around $800, but if it's something amazing, I'd stretch to the $1000. I don't mind Refurbished or Almost New devices either...

Desired things: 1080p Res Screen, Lighter than 6 pounds (not a desktop replacement laptop)

Preferred, but not as needed: 8 GB RAM, Discrete Graphics

Don't need: Optical Drive, Touch-Screen (though it'd be a wonderful added bonus)

Games I play: Empire: Total War, Shogun 2, Skyrim, Assassin's Creed, Fallout 3+, Mass Effect, Red Orchestra 2, Fifa 13

Laptops I've looked at:

Lenovo Ideapad Y500----This thing looks awesome. Can run current games and high-res movies, 1080p screen, i7 processor, on sale for a little more than $900 with tax. Problems: Apparently there are some trackpad issues, Heavy 6+ lbs, Essentially 3 hour battery.

Macbook Pro 15.6 with Retina ---- Amazing screen, crazy light, wonderful aluminum build, great keypad and trackpad. Problems: $1,900 for a Refurbished unit! The 13" is better priced, but still around $1400 after taxes.

Lenovo Yoga ---- Love the bendability aspect of its design and touch-screen controls, I like Lenovo build quality, great battery life, really light. Problems: Not very powerful at all, Not 1080p (screen resolution of 1600x900), and the i5 configuration is $1100 after taxes.

Suggestions, comments, advice? Should I wait for touch-screen laptops to flesh out a little, or for Windows 8 Blue? Or perhaps come, June when a new Macbook Pro kicks the old laptops down $400?

Theres a Samsung Series 7 Chronos 17.3" that came out recently in the US that has an AMD HD 8870M 2gb VDDR5 ram, i7 3635QM, 8gb DDR3 ram, 1tb 5400rpm HDD, 1080p screen. It also is only 1 inch tall and weighs only 6.5lbs.

It's on sale at Best Buy right now for $1,149.99.

Or you could look into the 15.6" version of it.
