In the background, we had Windows Live Movie Maker transcoding a video from MPEG2 to H.264. Here's a look at the quality of our Skyrim experience while encoding.

Well, good news and bad news here, I suppose. On the positive front, the FX-8350 outperforms any prior AMD CPU in this test scenario and delivers a fairly smooth Skyrim experience while encoding video in the background. On the downside, the FX-8350's eight cores do not deliver a superior multitasking experience compared to the quad-core competition from Intel. Even the two-generations-old Core i5-760 is faster.

Except there will still be more of those coming in 2014 & 2015, espically new MMORPG/RTS games that won't care one bit about porting to console at all or just run-on expansion sets (The third Starcraft 2 expansion in 2015 will still sale a ton because it is Starcraft, and it will be unable to effectively use more than 2 cores).

Well it is because it's a console port..... A modern PC Dual core has more power then the CPU in consoles so why bother making use more then 2 threads...

Well agree. but there is better games to compare the ipc. Like sc2 or any rts games. We dont need to compare a pure console port with ancient code.But the fact is a fact fx underperform in some games
