1090T @ 4.0

Single Thread Performance, compare it to the 8320 since they have similar clocks.

Why do you think a lot of Phenom II users haven't "upgraded" to BD or PD?

They'll see a real reason come Steamroller if AMD delivers.

This here is what happens when people don't know why Sony chose AMD.

Ask them. Or those that didn't upgrade from sandy to ivy. Or me that haven't forsaken my Q9450 for a nehalem or a sandy. In all these cases, included the PD vs Phenom case, the extra performance is there, you can take it or leave it. Piledrivers best their phenom II equivalents pretty much everywhere. And that's a fact.

Really makes you wonder if AMD shouldn't pull an intel and just go back and Work some Magic on the Phenom 2 cores, sorta like Intel did with pentium 3.

AMD should have never of abandoned Deneb in the first place, it still had some tweaks left in it.
yes new tech is the move but Bulldozer was a downgrade.

what amd should do is use the cores that was used in the phemon and use them for steamroller:)

It really makes no sense to do that because the R&D done on the new CMT architecture will eventually prove it to be very efficient. They just need to keep refining and correcting issues until it performs the way it should.

Streamroller would also bring the benefit of a cheaper manufacturing process, as SOI is 20-30% more expensive than bulk. Also 32nm SOI has been proven to be leaky, hopefully 28nm can fix this problem and bring power consumption down.

For the record, my question wasn't directed at you.

Fact is, clock for clock Phenom II has higher IPC than Bulldozer & Piledriver, I've already proven that. Even in multi-threaded and 2 LESS cores.

Can BD / PD clock higher? Sure, but not the point, I'm making a clock for clock comparison which is what the definition of IPC is based on.

As far as my question went, after Bulldozer / Piledriver released, a lot of members on this forum stayed with their trusty Phenom II's, some switched over to Intel, few of them actually "upgraded".

I've seen many posts where people have stated that the "upgrade" just wasn't worth it for them.

I also saw many angry AMD users who got a 2500K instead of Bulldozer upon release.

Disclaimer: These are non-scientific facts, just my opinion based on my observations of members of this forum. Take it for what it is.

Steamroller is the right direction for them IMO. Remember, AMD's goals are HSA oriented, and Deneb wasn't going to get them there.
