Took Antec 1200 apart...pieces warped?

Thread Starter
I de-riveted the entire case for modding and painting and found that the bottom plate was warped almost. It flexes a bit and seems to "snap" into two positions with the opposite corners raised. The plate is flat when the case is riveted together and if I hold it, but I'm worried this will affect the paint job. Any suggestions? Or is this normal?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

- Alex

This is normal as the plates are stamped in a huge press between forming dies. When you put it back together, it'll square back up and you won't notice it. And no, paint is a bit flexible, so there won't be any issues when putting it back together with the paint popping off.

I know they bend a little bit, but this seems to be a bit more than normal.

I apologize, but I had nothing other than the wall to press it against.

That does seem a bit more warped than normal, but I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Just try to push everything back in place and you should be fine. The paint will bend.

You can put protective coats over the paint that will make it a little more robust if your still worried.

That's a bit on the extreme side, but still fairly normal for a stamped part. Twist across the panel like that will be taken up square when you properly reassemble the case.

Yeah, I figured it'd come out square when I put it back together. I was more worried about the paint.

Thank you both for your help. Let the modding begin!
