newegg rules.
I've heard one person complain that their open box only come with the motherboard and no accessories, not even a back I/O faceplate.

All the rest have been great though

How does the Tankguys rep know how Newegg labels their stuff??

However, you might be right based on your last statement.

i am not saying that he knows how newegg does it exactly but he had some viable points on how they can label them for resale and if they are used how they must be labeled and stuff like that, i dont remember which thread it was in would take a while to find but anyways

i could be wrong too im just going off knowledge that ive heard and from personally experience

edit: either way its still a good deal if you ask me

Technically, a vendor cannot sell an open/returned item as "OEM". It must be disclosed that it's a used item.

So, when you see something labeled as OEM, don't worry about it being used or returned

Your argument makes sense, and I am inclined to believe it. This would confirm you likely won't get a lot of parts with Open box OEM (since they come from a big pile that's repacked for individual sales), while Open Box (used) stuff might come with all stuff, since it's likely a returned item.

the question here is about Newegg's labeling of 'Open Box OEM', like this example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813131045R

Thanks for chiming in

In that case, I'd say it's 99% likely that it's either a customer return, or the box was damaged. In either case, I'm sure the board still has a warranty and whanot.

To me, open item/OEM are good deals. Since you are still warrantied, you don't often lose much - so why not save some money in return for not getting a pretty box (Yes, sometimes open box also means you miss out on some cables, depending - but personally, I've got plenty of them laying around as it is )

True... LOL... I've got plenty SATA cables.... and more than enough IDE cables...

The only 'custom' item that comes with a mobo is the backplate anyways... and who needs those

Uh oh... the Tank has a flame.... watch out now
