I Have Approx. $500 for a GPU...help

So like the title says I've got around $500 for a GPU could stretch that to $600. That being said I know most AMD cards don't even cost $500. I know some people will suggest the 7950. Stop it. I don't want it. What I'm looking for is people who have different 7970's and can give me some guidance here.

The more I look at GPU's and reviews on Newegg makes my brain freakin' hurt. I play on 1920x1080, will be playing heavily modded Skyrim, BF3/4 etc. and would enjoy max settings at 60 FPS or more. I understand that 60 FPS might be a stretch on some games and may be considering overclocking if I can get a decent boost w/ locked voltages and air cooling. Help!

If you have that kind of dough, then you should wait for the gtx 780 or 770.

SIgh.. I know I should. I'm too damn impatient though. Unless they come out in the next month, current gen it is.

What are you running now? Do you have a gaming gpu right now? If you do I recommend you to wait, it will be better in the long run. biggrin.gif

I'm assuming the next gpus to come out are the 700 series of Nvidia, since I think ATI's 8000 series is coming out in 2014 but I could be wrong on that.

Currently nothing. Unless you count my iCrap that coughs and wheezes when I play Diablo 3. It's been 10 years since I built a PC.

If you aren't going to overclock the the Gigabyte 7970 Ghz with the windforce x3 cooler is really nice as the x3 can be adjusted to run very quietly.

If you do want to do some serious OC'ing then the MSI 7970 Lightning or the Sapphire 7970 Vapor-X GHz Edition are more you speed.

I'd still say wait for the newest tech, but its up to you. If you have a ps3 or xbox360, that should keep you waiting for the time to pass. Or while you wait, work out, exercise a lot, and play sports. Get some Sun, the weather should be getting hotter atleast in South Jersey soon. It was a nice day on Saturday where it was hot at 59 with next to no wind breeze.

To be honest I was hoping for single GPU solution as I'm concerned w/ heat. That being said, I'm have almost no working knowledge of what I'm talking about, other than vague memories of high school days.
