I am just trying to understand what they are measuring here b/c I know ppl who have CF are saying that they see noticeable improvements in games compared to sigle card.

2010rig posted the article where they explain what observed fps is (at least I think they do) so I'd check it out if I were you.

I did check it out before I quoted him. I am writing what I understood from it trying to figure out why according to them going from single card to CF doesn't bring you any gains. That can't be true.

Crossfire getting less FPS than a single card.

They really need to go into more details.

At least that one is the observed chart, which makes sense if you have a lot of runt/dropped frames - the FC3 one is supposed to be the actual, as reported by FRAPS, FPS which makes no sense.
So, 'runt' frames, whatever they are, might have some influence, so 'observed frame-rate' is not so observed. I think we shouldn't take this review seriously until someone else doesn't come up with a better way to measure actual observed frame-rate.

lol yeah sure and some people spent so much money on gpus to increase performance and image quality to run games without vsync.. XD

Btw why they keep doing articles without vsync enable or radeonpro???
Specially in a game like FC3 this which barely brakes 50fps no matter what config...??

If that is what FRAPS is reporting, why has no one else seen those results? I realize the FCAT part (and hence the lower graph) is new, but if FRAPS is reporting 80 FPS that should have been noticed by now. Why did PCPer not address that obviously impossible Crossfire scaling?

80 vs 20 frame animation go figures i was asking myself the same question in the other topic as well lol..
The guys are really blind or they just put numbers on their reviews..

The only thing fcat is good for is to capture input lag...

did you read the first article in the series?
Frame Rating Dissected: Full Details on Capture-based Graphics Performance Testing

this "frame time rating" isn't that unheard of with several sites looking into in the last week.

AMD Comments on GPU Stuttering, Offers Driver Roadmap & Perspective on Benchmarking

As the second turns: Frame captures, CrossFire, and more
Inside the second with Nvidia's frame capture tools

those are but a few . .

Trust me, you're better off just not responding, I learnt this this hard way.

My only guess is PCPer, Anand, Toms and Tech Report took it in turns kicking his dog under Nvidias instruction.

You're wasting your time wink.gif
