I have to wonder what would it take to fix that?

TBH i think the Xfire set up's lighting is very harsh compared to the SLI:

I never said it did not need to be fixed or should be ignored. I just said that the intent of the article had nothing to do with the visual quality that is being displayed by Nvidia.

If you would like for PCPer to address that issue, then go talk to them on their website. Maybe there needs to be an article done on that issue and discussed.

I don't think they will address the issue if you don't have money in hand.

@Eastcoast - remember that it is a dynamic game so it is possible (but I think unlikely) that the missing light is a game problem, and not a Nvidia problem. It also happens at the very end of the video with the store across the street.

Have any of you tried running the FCAT tool yourselves? PCPer posted it, but I don't know what you'd have to do to capture the video without a capture card. I guess it isn't possible. Anyway, they also released the XLS files from a couple of sample runs - take a look, they are pretty interesting. A lot of 6 or 7 scan line frames for CrossFire - seems strange that 6 and 7 would show up so often. Almost like the driver gets in of rhythm.

Yes, now we are bringing arguments to the table, that is what I wanted from the start. Yes, fraps counts everything, dropped frames (the ones not showing to the user) and runts. Those other 2 frames are regular continuing to the next and previous screen shot, adding to animation smoothness.

But I still can't accept that CF brings no real addition over single-GPU. Maybe we are missing something. I will wait for Anandtech to start using frame times and latencies in their reviews before making any final conclusions. And wouldn't nVidia point it out by now?

theres performance from a cfx setup it just nvidia guys trying to make a big deal out of it..

if you read in pcper they did the same tests with vsync and the frames changed to the positive side...

Theres something on cfx setup messing up when running without vsync..

if you notice here

You see that fraps and fcat graphs when the 7970's are vsynced they are practical equal..

i am glad i was able to help and sorry if i seemed a bit impatient before. i understand that the possibility of a crossfire setup not being beneficial would be an astounding discovery and ought to be viewed with a skeptical eye. the benefit of PCper, anandtech and tech reports is that they completely explain their testing procedure so that anyone can replicate the tests. if others are able to repeat and have similar results it would help validate PCper's findings; or more specifically their interpretation of the data which lead to their conclusion.
