AMD FX 6300 Voltages n Stuff

Thread Starter
So I got me one of them FX 6300's. This is the first time Ive seriously played around with overclocking, and I'm having a blast with all these wonderful programs. I manged to clock it at 4440 MHz, and I noticed something interesting. When I ran it on OCCT at 1.38 volts, the multiplier would jump down to x15 when I had it manually set at x18.5. I have every power saving feature on this bios disabled.

But when I jumped the voltage to 1.393 volts, It works fine. I have only run OCCT for 10 minutes at a time, and each time my core temp peaks at about 50C. I get the feeling that there are features on this motherboard that just can't be disabled, cause the other thing Ive noticed is that it runs at least 0.04 volts lower than what I set it to, Ive even seen it drop to 1.30v...

Also, I have run passmark a couple times, and I get better benchmarks when my North bridge frequency is set to 2200 MHz as opposed to 2400, or 2600. But maybe I need to jump the voltage, I have everything but the CPU voltage at stock settings, and I reverted the NB-PCIe voltage to (auto) because i think having the FSB at 240 is messing with it a bit, just haven't played around with that voltage setting yet. It was making just about every video playback super glitchy until I changed it.

I might drop my FSB down a bit and up my multipliers, the reason I jumped my FSB was because the North Bridge would crash every time I set the multiplier over 11. Yet I can get the frequency way up further than that with the FSB.... :?

a little bit of vdroop is normal especially underload. depending on the motherboard, the voltage value will sometimes be different than what you set, this is normal as well. if you are fine tuning an overclock you should check your llc settings to prevent or stop a massive drop in voltage, usually this can cause instability.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-bulldozer-and-piledriver-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboard

amd's power saving features will drop the multiplier to stay within power and thermal limits.

oic, i don't think this bios has an option for LLC, Ive looked for it a couple times and no luck, oh and I lied about the power features, I still have Eup 2013 enabled...

Heh I can't seem to find the rig builder forum, maybe i should just read around rather than assume goggle searching is the only way to find stuff.
