Monitor for college

Thread Starter
I will be starting college this fall and I am trying to decide what monitor(s)/monitor setup to go with. My graphics card has 1.2 gigs of vram. I currently have a 1600x900 monitor which feels small, and may be annoying to do a lot of reading on. I do plan on gaming. I have a few of possible combinations in mind:

2 1600x900 monitors
3 1600x900 monitors (portrait)
1 ASUS PA248Q Black 24.1 with 1600x900 monitor
1 ASUS PA248Q Black 24.1
1 QNIX QX2710 LED Evolution ll 27"

Any feedback is appreciated, and I thank you in advance. biggrin.gif

1 ASUS PA248Q Black 24.1 with 1600x900 monitor

I love having the beautiful QHD Catleap but if I was in your position and it was either two screens 1080+900 vs 1440 I might go with dual screens. If I may ask why not go 1 QNIX QX2710+ current 900res screen?

I currently do my Catleap + an Asus VH242H and absolutely love it, but with the 1.2GB or ram the 1080+900 is the "better" choice.

it has amazing reviews and an insanely small bezel. this monitor has one downside, it cant be wall mounted, linus tech tips has a review about this monitor too.

I feel that 1.2 gigs of vram would not be enough for that. It sounds amazing though

His price range probably doesn't allow more than one but one of these plus his current 900 res screen sounds great!

Before my 7970 I was using SLI 1GB 460's the Vram limit is overblown, all I had to do was not touch AA and lower some textures and the game on the higher res still looked better than 1080. I assume since you're still using a 560 ti you're not a huge stickler for "everything has to be max and I don't mind paying 50% penalty for 5% added quality" so it should be fine.

it should be, even for gaming on all 3. the only way it wouldnt be is to max some newer games on it.

I'd like to stay under $400 but 2 of those sounds pretty awesome.

+$300 1440+900(free as it's his current) >>>>>>> +$350 Dual 1080's tongue.gif even with their amazing bezels. Once you go to 1440 you don't go back, though this is solely my opinion. tongue.gif

Yeah there is no issue unless you eventually want to go surround/eyefinity (3 screens or more) then the game will use lowest resolution across the board. I normally just game on my Catleap while I have a movie or show or something on second, unless I'm reading or working.
