how far do you screw the mounting screws?

i got so far then realised my mobo was bending so i backed off a little bit but i can twist the tower a little bit, is that too loose?

hmmm sound to me companies need to get better HSF cause the weight is starting the get a real problem, already 1 guy had a broken K8 mounting on his AMD board with an BT

dunno if i can say what good or not, just make shure the HSF is thightend enough to the CPU to make good contact without the HSF leaning towards gravity

I think I read about somebody that has cracked their board because of something like this. I would just make sure that its tight enough that it doesn't seem to bend the board, if the temps are too high re-seat and try again.

Make sure it's so tight that it can't move. That's all you need. If you go farther you will hear a somewhat high pitched noise and the next thing is stare at your mobo and wonder what to do..

I had that problem when adding a new HSF to a dell (not mine!). There was a build in backing on the case. I bent it down, and I didn't have any problems.

i just tightened all the screws as i realised it was leaning down a little bit (which explains the difference between core temps) and now my temps are 33C idle and 42C load
