GTX 670 GPU Usage

Hi, got a brand new Gigabyte gtx 670 windfore x3 and i'm quite satisfied but got a question in my mind.

I had a gtx 570 before and the gpu usage would be generally %90-99 in games but this card mostly uses %70-90 gpu in demanding games like huge maps at battlefield 3 and planetside 2. Still i get a lot better performance then my 570 but is this a problem not using the maximum gpu usage it can? or is 600 series design to throttle down the gpu usage to reduce heat or something?

tried bumping up the fan speed to %100 and got stable temprature at 45-50 but the gpu usage didn't raise up so i'm guessing the heat is not an issue.
got a tx850m corsair and 2600k oc to 4.5ghz so bottleneck is not an issue either.

(the core clock is changing between 1137-1150)

would be glad if you can fill me up with this, thanks!

I think that 85C is what should be cause for concern. What do you hit at, say, 60% fan speeds?

If you notice an improvement over your old card, then obviously that's a win situation. However, BF3 and PS2 should definitely be taking full advantage of GPU, along with CPU. Send your card to 60% fan speed and bench it. Then report back.

at %60 fan speed locked it reached to max 80c and while benching gpu usage was constatly %99, core clock was mostly 1137.

so i don't really know if these results any good. Seems like it has something to do with only bf3 and ps2 don't really get it.

On regards of lowering temps try applying new TIM.

Your temps shouldn't be causing any throttling. Those are fine. Take it to 65% and call it a day (my opinion).

This could be a driver problem, though. Have you tried another driver, first? and before you install your 670, have you un-installed your previous driver "completely" and then install your card?

temprature raises up to 85c while playing ps2 and gpu usage is unsteady. i uninstalled my driver and used driver sweeper and installed the latest driver, ill try it with previous drivers and update the post in the future.

this card has a 8 pin slot, i plugged in a pci-e 6+2. while putting in the +2 little connector i didnt hear any click sould or something i just pushed in as far as it goes. i can't come up with anything else to be honest.

will run a test at %65 fan speed and update the post when i finish, thanks for your help guys.

Definitely not a temperature issue. Even if the clocks throttled, the GPU usage doesn't drop like that. Seems like the driver and that particular game don't like each other too much.
