Too much radiator? (is it possible?)

Thread Starter
Can you have too much radiator?

I think I have a failed build - basically to do what I was planning would cost more money that I have. So, I'm going to shelve the custom case for a time when I have more money. However, I still have most of my water loop, so I was thinking about what I could cram it into biggrin.gif

Then a thought came to me, to take an old 200mm phobya I have (internal) and my new 360mm swiftech (external) in a TJ08-e I've been trying to sell. Using a MCP35X with a CPU (2500k) & a 7970 block - I don't think restrictions would be a problem. Overkill, certainly, but would there be any problems?

Using the MCP35X will be more than enough, how do you plan to mount the Swiftech 360mm on the TJO8-E?

i've got a Fesser 240mm mounted to my TJO8-E.

38mm Yates Loon low speed + 25mm Sythe GT1850

Highest temp has been 52* on a 40* day here recently

Assuming you can power the loop, the only thing I can think is it becoming redundant; the water is cooled to ambient and no amount of rad will cool beyond that without a chiller or ice.

just make sure your pump is powerfull enough, and with that many rads you may be able to go fanless too

He must have misread something. I do not see discussion of temps that would lead one to surmise that the OPs temps are at ambient either. A slip.

Having those 2 rads for just 2 blocks will mean you will be able to run your fans at a low speed making little noise, I have a 360+120 cooling my 2500k and 6870 and 8 ap-15's running at 25%

It might expensive, overkill and completely and utterly redundant, but there is no such thing as too much!

On a side note, the Corsair Obsidian 900D can hold;

2 x 480 RAD
1 x 240 RAD
2 x 360 RAD

I can't wait to see someone go overboard on this case.

As others have said, at some point you just won't see any additional benefit from extra radiator space.

When it comes to fans however, there is no limit to how much additional fans will decrease temperatures: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUbpb23yTK8 biggrin.gif
