Are there any games that fully utilize the 3GB Vram on a 79xx?

So as some of you know I recently had a faulty 7970 which I had shipped back but during the time I had it regardless of the artifacting it still performed like a 7970 should have.

Now on to my question, When playing heavy hard, pipe-hittin' DX11 games who went to work on the 7970 here with a pair of pliers and a blow torch such BF3, MOH WF, Crysis 3, Dirt 3-Showdown, etc. and so forth.... not one game did I notice go above 1.5 GB or anywhere near 2 GB of Vram -same with with the much complained DX9 Skyrim (which mine is vanilla) which made me question, is there any game that fully utilizes 3GB of Vram or more on these cards?

Now after seeing this I can truly understand why a majority of OCN members are always saying anything above 2GB Vram cards are just overkill or a waste right now.....

More resoltution means more vram. Triple 1080p utilizes it.

For 1080p you must try hard. Skyrim, minecraft with mods can go over 3 gb easily.

Now if you go 1440p or multimonitor with any high AA you will see over 2gb.

For example with tri-fire and eyefinity in bioshock i use 3100~ mb

If i remember hitman is quite tax the vram

I forgot about eyefinity, and I should of mentioned if possible on 1080p alone.... But ok so Skyrim on mods,(noob question) are mods legal and free? I wouldn't mind trying some out but I don't want to be doing anything shady if downloading mods aren't legal. nomsayin'?

Other than Modded games anything STOCK possible on 1080p? I really want to get one of these: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&sku=225-4201

Would playing at 2560 x 1080 use more Vram other than the fact its still 1080?

Mods are not only legal, but Bathesda encourages them. They even make free utilities to make your own mods.

Also, crysis 3 could probably eat up 3GB of vram

At 1080 on a single screen 3GB is going to be overkill. It comes into it's own at higher resolutions or multi monitor gaming smile.gif Pretty much what everyone else said haha.

Ok another noob question here, So if 3GB is overkill for 1080, then why is it that 7970 is faster than a 6970 at 2GB on the same resolution? Or is it just all because of the clock speeds?

I guess what Im trying to get at is, what makes games peg such high FPS on higher end cards if it's not the available Vram?
