Gaming Headset Help

I've been looking at getting a good gaming headset now that I'm playing primarily with my laptop because of college but can't seem to find anything that I like. I've looked at the Razer Tiamat 2.2 and the Steelseries 7H and 5Hv2, the latter company having the edge for me because of the USB connection with a built in 7.1 sound card (my sound card, I assume, is built in to the motherboard and is utter crap). But what's keeping me from buying are some of the reviews and suggestions I've seen as to not get them despite the favorable reviews.

In general, I'm looking for:
A USB connection with a built in sound card
Good noise cancellation
Comfort
Great bass response, while still mainting a general quality for music
Great soundscape, preferring surround sound
Other things general expected with a good gaming headset
Preferably <$120

I actually own the Tiamat 2.2 headset right now and am becoming frustrated with my Realtek Audio Manager. I've updated the driver to the newest version, but I can't access any of the settings I see elsewhere, such as sound effects and the equalizer...This problem is also where the Steelseries 12 channel eqaulizer gets my vote.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

For clarification, I say I bought a headset, but in reality I would enjoy something without a mic.
Also, I've continued doing some research and will admit that I will sacrifice bass for soundscape/soundstage, but I would still like bass to be noticeable for when I listen to music and watch movies.

Have you considered a separate soundcard + separate headphone setup? It would be MUCH better value for money.
