Very high temps and speedfan prob!

Eh guys, I have a sony vaio that I use for mostly the internet and speedfan says 55C a idle. My bios says about the same thing. Load it has hit 59C on prime95. I've never removed my stock sink so if its been like this for the last 4 years its pretty amazing. I do remove the 70mm fan and clean the dust out every 6 months. Right now if I touch anywhere on the cpu sink its hot like a gpu block during a video game.

Bestides the high temps I cant get speed fan to lower or rais the rpm of the cpu fan. Its connected to the motherboard with the 3 pin connector and I've seen speed fan record the fan hit 3800 rpm on load and it typicly idles at 1300rpm. I'd like to at least be able to control its speeds through speedfan.

since this isn't my sig rig. From CPU-Z some of the specs for this sony are:
cpu:Intel P4 2.66ghz Northwood
0.13um Technology
Voltage 2.512v

Everthing including the bio's is at defalt. Only hardware I've changed on this system is I upgraded to a 9550 gpu, added another 512ram (total 1gig now), and changed the exhuast fan from a 80mm to a 90mm.

Any help with speed fan or any imput would be wonderful!

That seems about right actually, for a laptop and a processor of that make. I don't think there is much to worry about. Just try to keep it cool with fans, or something. But you gotta realize laptops do get that hot.

Yeah, northwoods will run up to 65C, 59 at load does sound pretty good. My buddy has an old Inspiron that runs upwards of 60C with no problems at all. Speedfan works well on that laptop and has very accurate temp readings.... Actually Sony makes VAIO's that arent laptops, they are regular towers. Still the temps are right for that processor even if it isnt a mobile.

LOL guys, its actually a desktop not a laptop. Its model number is pcv-rz24g
thats why i can fit a 90mm fan in it, lol, sorry if the specs are missleading.

like
http://www.videomaker.com/article/9514/
and
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-PCV-RZ24G.../dp/B000083GML
so I guess this little sony rig is kinda rare lol. I know they are still currently making vaio towers though.

the thing is speed fan isn't working, is there somthing i gota do?

I know its a Sony and all but on my friends laptop there was actually a checkbox in the config box for Dell systems. Maybe there is something on speedfans site about it. i question the validity of speedfans results sometimes. I have an MSI m/b and the core center program freezes up the system. When it actually does work though, the readins are markedly different(almost 20C difference). Im in the process of figuring out why my core center doesnt work and why the temps are different in speedfan.
