Don't forget guys, this is up-to-date graphs. I don't see mobile reaching PC or console until NEVER.

You can say that "AMD Mobile GPUs will outpace consoles soon" by the same logic.. they are moving forward too

AND YET you dont hear them saying that !!

and 1 more "advice" Nvidia doesnt know you, stop defending that company like that OR THEY ARE WRITING A CHECK TO YOU EVERY MONTH ?!?! biggrin.gif

Every company WANTS your money all the time... dont get attached to them, its pointless thumb.gif

As I thought. You are not connecting the right dots.

Mobile (laptop) GPU's have out paced the current consoles since 2007....that's not a big deal. An 8700m. I had it in my Toshiba satellite back in the day (cost me 2,000) so I remember it VERY well -_-

But they aren't referring to LAPTOP GPUs! They're talking about Tegra. A chip that consumes 4-8 WATTS.

You're confusing mobile (laptop) with mobile (cells/tablets)

So when AMD invents something that's anything close to Tegra, then they can come out and say the same thing. Stop jumping to conclusions

When AMD does manage to build anything that's comparable, they can come out and call out NVIDIA all they want, just like they tried to do against Intel in the low power server CPU market.

Doesnt matter, Nvidia its recicling ARM cpus paired with their gpu arch, thats all.. AMD have bobcat/jaguar and all the evolution its coming from that segment market (not 100% same market but still), designs that are winning actual products, Tegra is loosing market to qualcomm, etc..

and they dont need to "call out Nvidia" when they build "amd tegra" equivalent, they are already in a better position than Nvidia in this segment

Nvidia is MAD with the whole consoles fiasco and they are loosing ground with tegra plain and simple.. PR at it finnest thumb.gif

Well I wouldn't say never...got to remember that mobile devices have only recently started to care about graphics...like maybe only in the last two years or so has there been any real focus on it. Before then the goal was to have graphics...period, and have the battery last as long as possible. Newer phones and tablets are even starting to sacrifice battery life for better graphics. I think we will see a big jump in graphics performance soon in the mobile arena...heh, and probably a two hour battery life running under a heavy work load. That is about how long my Galaxy 3 can play epsxe before popping up a low battery alert.

Are you even paying attention? The consoles are full AMD partners. So every whack at a console from Nvidia is aimed at the hardware of the consoles and therefore AMD. Nvidia specifically said they didn't want to put the hardware in the consoles for the price Sony was willing to pay. And therefore AMD did. The Titan is an expensive piece of marketing tool. Only to make Nvidia have the strongest single GPU card again (yet at a rediculous price). Everything Nvidia says is aimed at themselves or AMD. It is their only proper competitor.

That's a pretty crappy graph though tongue.gif it compares next gen consoles to current gen desktop gpus in terms of performance. If we're going to accept the rumor that a PS4 equals a 7970M more or less, which is fairly easily beaten by a 7870 on the desktop end of things, with about 10 graphics cards outperforming the 7870 (give or take a few). I wonder what kind of performance level they are comparing consoles with given that they went ahead and concluded GPU desktop performance and console performance are the same.

that's against Intel, Nvidia doesn't play with laptop CPUs.

so, irrelevant. It's true that Nvidia's tegra line will match the 360's/ps3's performance. WHY would you deny that?

Nvidia believes next generation mobile graphics processors will have more horsepower than GPUs used in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

It sounds great, despite the fact that current gen consoles have been around for seven years and their replacements are just around the corner. Nvidia SVP Tony Tamasi said the next generation of Tegra chips, post Tegra 4, should be able to outperform the old crop of consoles.

hey what do you know, this has NOTHING to do with the next gen consoles. A Ps3 uses a NVIDIA GPU. So now what? Is this still a jab at AMD? No. It's a testament of how far mobile computing has come and will go (and by mobile I mean cell/tablets)

Maybe you aren't reading the article properly. They are clearly using the PS3(Nvidia) and the Xbox 360(ATI/AMD) as a basis for comparison. It is very clearly stated in the first sentence. This is NOT about the next gen of consoles which will be around 1800 Gflops, while the comparison Nvidia are making is the older consoles which perform around 200 Gflops. Any wild accusation about Nvidia taking a stab at the new consoles from this article in particular is just that, speculative. Nvidia has taken jabs at the new consoles and understandably that one might think they are "at it again", but this article in particular makes its case against the Xbox 360/PS3 and nothing more.

You have to notice the last bracket is from 1,000 to 31,622. Its exponential. Read it carefully wink.gif

So Console might be at 2,000 while the PCs are at 15,000.

But not the PS4 or the Xbox720... direct stab into Nvidia. And mobile? Its only predictions rolleyes.gif
