Good GPU for 14 year old

Thread Starter
Hello! I am looking for a good starter GPU for a 14 year old. I need it to be able to play Battlefield 3, Far Cry 3, as well as BioShock Infinite maxed out. Any suggestions? I prefer a GPU in the $100 - $250 range. Thanks!

Is it only Infinite maxed out, or all of the games? Sorry, the grammar is confusing tongue.gif Also, was it necessary to mention it would be for a 14 year old? Isn't he/she going to play 18+ rated games either way? biggrin.gif

7870 xt would seem to be the best in your price bracket.

this may not max game with 60+fps but changing to high it should be fine at 1080p

Assuming a 1080p res and parental supervision, you still won't get decent FPS on Far Cry 3.

For Battlefield 3 you'll want a HD7870/HD7950 or higher or a GTX 660Ti or higher for 60FPS

Bioshock infinite isn't out yet so I don't know about that. Recommended requirements are HD6950/GTX 560 which is roughly HD7850 /GTX 650 Ti Boost or higher.

7870Xt performs close to HD7950 at 1080p resolution

Hi!

I would either get a HD 7870, HD 7850 or a 650 Ti boost depending on how much you wanna spend. With the 650Ti boost and the HD 7850 performing around the same, you can expect to play with high setting but without the little plus like Anti Aliasing turned to the max.

For ultimate performance and a price that fit your budget I would get a HD 7870. You'd be able to pretty max out BF3 and Bioshock Infinite but maybe uber max out FarCry 3, from what I've heard its a veryyy demanding game but you should be able to run it at more than decent settings!

I would pick this card from XFX:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150605

the warranty of XFX is legendary, and despite what some said, the cooler is very decent! (Plus you get bioshock infinite and tomb raider for free!)

Hope it helps!

A used 7950 if you could find one for under 250 would be the fastest gpu to get for the best price. But you probly wont find a 7950 under 250 so might be best to get a 7870 xt or joker they name them differt by the brands it seems.
