A friend asked me to repair his netbook that his son had stepped on. I replaced the 320gb hard drive with a ssd and installed win 7 ultimate for him to get him back online. I learned when delivering the netbook that the only pictures of his deceased son's funeral are on that hard drive and he wants them back, desperately! I got my BIOS to recognize it after switching to IDE emulation but once in windows, it's an "unknown device". Active partition recovery won't be able to repair the boot sector or anything else or even recover any files without windows seeing the hard drive. Please, anyone with knowledge would be helpful as I would hate to deliver the info that they're gone forever. I will read through the storage thread agaIn. I'm using my Z77 rig to try to recover the fil;es and it's a seagate drive. Thank you!
