What's the best mini-itx gaming case?

I'm having trouble deciding between the Bitfenix Prodigy and the FT03 Mini. Leaning towards the prodigy because of the regular optical drive bay and the better thermals/sound.

The Prodigy is a bit big for an mITX case. I like the FT03 better, but it's a fingerprint magnet

it's anodized aluminum, so yea you can get some matte clear coat and give it a few coats, that should make wiping it down a lot easier

I've been going back and forth between these two cases as well! But the limitation on rear blowing gfx cards and sfx psu's have put me off with the ft03 mini. You should check the ft03 mini thread on hardforum, great read. I am probably going for the bitfenix myself. Although it is big for mITX, it is a cool looking case and easy to transport and cooling options are vast. Good luck deciding.

I have not build in the FT03 yet...

The Prodigy is a good case overall with some quirks, but is large, this is a weakness and the strength. It has the most versatile cooling options but is the size of a mATX case. The "feet" are not as stable as I would like either. However it can build a brute of a system in it.

I have built in the Lian Li Q25 and the Node 304 and love both of these cases for a gaming rig. The Lian Li requires you be really picky about coolers and PSUs and the Node is a little more flexable on both. I am using a AIO on a Node with zero issues.

Fractal Node 304 ... I looked at all of them and I love the small foot print, the 6 Media HDD/SSD drives you can fit ... the full size Titan if you wanted ... and full size PSU. Best bang for the $ I could find smile.gif

CaseLabs is about to release the mercury s3 mitx case. I think it starts around 200.

I'm rather enjoying my Lian Li case. It can fit 4 hard drives and any length of video card and 2 SSD's. If you remove the hard drive cage (thus only having SSD's) then there is a great deal more space which would allow AIO water cooling.

It's limited in CPU cooling if the hard drive cage is installed as well as length of power supply. Both of these limitations as noted go away if you pull the cage.

Personally, I'm waiting on this to go into production: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ncase-m1-prototype-a-mini-itx-case
^--can accomodate a full sized ATX PSU, which is a big plus in my book.

Not a fan of the Prodigy, it's way too big for a mITX case, and I hear the plastic feet-like dealies will bend over time.

If you want something with a more industrial/server look, consider Case Labs Mercury S3. I still consider the footprint of this case too big, which is why my favorite mITX case to date is the NCase M1

The M1 looks dead sexy that is for sure....thumb.gif
