vista was better (there was never anything truly wrong with it as long as you ran it with proper hardware)

but Win 8 can be mind boggling for silly reasons such as why does its take like 5 extra clicks just to shutdown or restart on Win 8?

With over 100 300 laptops on BestBuy.com for sale with Windows8...I really don't think force fed is appropriate at all.

I don't like windows 8. I will stay with windows 7.
by the time there is no support for windows 7
the standard computer gaming towers like mine
will be gone anyway as the industry is going too
all these portable devices, so the consumer
home pc were use to will be gone soon.
and I don't game or do much on my laptop
I only have it to take with me on vacations
and such so I can keep track of my money
and banking and bills.

Congrats... I guess.

Seriously in my home/school use, I haven't seen anything I cannot do on 8 that I couldn't do on 7. If there was something I couldn't find, a quick Google search shows me where it is. What I have found is I have more options and certain things are more accessible on Windows 8. Call me crazy but this is Microsoft's best OS to date.

Only thing I find annoying (and don't use much anyway) are the Metro Apps that take up your monitor screen since they are not windowed
post #27 of 114

well that means you be getting win7, isnt the topic about the hate for win8? issues is you cant have 8 without metro shoved down your throats. have metro optional and you will see the love
post #28 of 114
I just dont get how someone can hate an OS without even using it themselves. to be honest, i have windows 8 on my sig laptop myself and have had no problems whatsoever i agree the start screen is a bit odd but after a while you'l get used to it.

I hate Win8 for several reasons, but it is decent at a tablet/phone or laptop with touchscreen though.

First of all, the Metro startup. Why on earth do they have this as the first screen, and why is it optimized for touch, when 99% of the consumers do not have or want touch on their desktop/laptops. We have tablets and phones for that.
If they at least made a desktop friendly metro it would help a lot, but I don't like touch, and I never will on desktops as you get stenches on your screen (which I have a REALLY low tolerance for). So in short, great for touch (phones/tablets), but I do not want it anywhere near my laptop or desktop.

Start menu, although the metro is fast, I prefer the start menu for my power usage of windows. Add an option to choose what you want, as power users rarely wants anything but a simple and fast setup.

Too much colors, I do not like the color scheme in 8, it is way to colorful for my liking. More options to tweak that would be great.

Incompatibility with several things, although this will probably change as the OS gets older. But not using all of my programs is a pain.

Several clicks to shut down, this should be a one click. You can cry all you want to me that two clicks is nothing, but I want my computer to go down with one, no matter the OS or brand.

Oh, and did I mention that I hate metro for desktop? rolleyes.gif

And no, using programs to get a normal desktop like start8, is not an option, this should be in the OS native. You should not have to pay for a program to make it usable, when they had it perfect before, and its nothing else than trying to push the consumer without touch screens to buy it, even if we don't want it.
Just add an option for CHOICE and we are all good. How hard is it? Does MS think all their consumers are sitting with touch or what?

I got several other things that bug me too, but I will stop here as it will only make my post a mile long.

I'm still loving Win8 and have yet to miss the start menu even a little bit. Metro works absolutely fine for me and my only real complaint is the split personality disorder of having to deal with the old desktop at all. If I could just have everything work off of the metro screen as metro apps I would much prefer that rather than having to switch between the old desktop and the new start screen. Out with the old, in with the new...
