Is the Zalman 7700 better than the AC64 Pro

Thread Starter
So I just wanted an opinion as to whether a Zalman 7700 would cool my Opteron 170 better than a AC 64 Pro. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Here's my suggestion, get this: Tuniq Tower 120 Link

It's regarded as the current best air cooler.

That's not what he's asking. Looks to me like he's on a budget... besides, Tuniqs are great, but what if he doesn't have that kind of money to shell out right now.

So a Zalman 7700 or an Arctic Freezer 64 Pro? I would say the AC Pro. I loved it, and if you lap it, then it's all the better.

Anyone else have an opinion on what he's actually asking about?...

I would get that but I'm on a budget, I can either get a zalman 7700 for $20 shipped or an AC 64 Pro from newegg.com for $16.99 plus $4.99 shipping...

If that is the case, then I would go with the Artic Freezer 64 Pro. Nice cooler and even better after a mild lapping job.

Anyone else want to help me convince him the AC Pro is better lol?

I have a Zalman 7700 and I run 30C at idle and 46-48 at 100%.I also like the fact its a big ol hunker of a fan and it cools my ram and vid card some. I don't know any thing about the Artic cooler

Both are good imo. The Zalman has the advantage that it cools some components around the CPU, while the Arctic might be the marginally better cooling.

Griffon23: What's your overclock on that X2 3800+. If it's a good overclock, then 48C is a darn good temp. That's some nice info to know.
