Confused about temps.

Thread Starter
Alright I just got this motherboard and I have a couple of questions. I know that Temp 1 is my CPU and when I stress test it, it goes up to about 40C on full load. Now I also have a temp saying Core: It goes up to about 50C but as soon as I stop the stress test it will go back down to 30C in less than 10 seconds? Should I care about that temp?

It's also the CPU, but then measured at the core instead of in the center of the HSF. Just keep an eye on it, but as long the 'normal' CPU temp is ok, nothing to worry about.

It's not too important....as long as CPU is right.

well temperature rise on a stress test. It's INTENDED to simulate a "full load" to see if you can handle it. You're fine man

alright yeah I know about all of that. Now I know that I don't want to go above 55C with my overclock MAX. Seeing that the Core says 50C already. Does the 55C max rule also apply to the Core or just Temp1 ? That's what I am confused about. I know that Temp 1 is pretty amazing imo (for air) but the Core worries me a little.

Just temp1.

The Core Temp just showed up after Core 2 Duo was introduced. We clocked happily before with just keeping an eye on temp1

Haha that is good to know. I clocked my cpu to 2.475 ghz and primed it overnight. Temps went to 40C MAX on Temp1 reached about 50 on Core. Prime failed on 1 core after about 4 1/2 hours. Should I consider this stable? Stable enough for everyday use? I know that I can get a ***** load more out of this mobo and cpu I was more curious if 4 1/2 hours is stable or not. So many damn options in bios... so confused need to do a little reading haha

4.5 hours is a bit stable. Not for a folding rig, but probably good enough for gaming. For folding you want 24/7 stability.

Try a hair more vcore...
