Narrowing down case choice

Thread Starter
Hi all so I've ordered my new system and I'd like to pick up a nice new case to replace my xigmatek midgard.

I've narrowed down my choices to the following:

Corsair 650D
Corsair 550D
Corsair 600T
Bitfenix Shinobi
Fractal Design R4 or Define XL R2

Has anyone fitted a h100i into one of these cases with room for some 3.5" HDD drives? If so what would you say the pros and cons of the case are?

If you haven't owned one personally what one would you choose? Any other recommendations for different cases would be much appreciated.

I'll be putting in a 7970 thats going to be air cooled into the case as well

It would help to tell us WHY you need/want a new case? Problems with old case? Better airflow/cooling? Old case lacks features? Are you a Gamer?

BTW: use the TIM/paste pre-install on the H100i -- great stuff.

The xigmatek case is quite a budget case and as such doesn't have dust filters, or any form of sound dampening and in general doesn't really have much features on it.

I'd just like something thats a bit more of a quality case, Yes I'm a gamer but I'm not particularly bothered about anything covered in LED's etc

IMHO, a Gamer needs a full tower for better airflow/cooling for those long frag sessions.

I'd cross the Shinobi off the list, the others are a lot better in my opinion.

Just a matter of opinion, but the 550d looks sharp in comparison to the 600t!

Its pretty much now between the

650d,
550d,

and possibly the
Fractal R4

My only problem is once I decide I'll get X case and I do abit of reading up there's always someone telling me its a rubish case etc and that X is better and that puts me off.

Really do need to get a case ASAP as my current xigmatek one is hella loud and doesn't really have proper mounts for my h100i

All 3 of the cases you mentioned are high quality, at this point I think you will be plenty safe to pick the one with the features and looks that you prefer the most!
